Job Description
The PCU/Telemetry Registered Nurse evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements, and documents nursing care. The RN assists physicians during examinations and procedures, performs various patient tests, and administers medications within the scope of practice of a registered nurse. This role also promotes patients' independence by establishing care goals and teaching patients and families about their conditions, medications, and self-care skills. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected, as RNs rely on their experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performing a variety of tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and plan, implement, and document nursing care.
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Perform various patient tests and administer medications.
- Establish patient care goals and educate patients and families.
- Communicate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient care.
- Float between departments and multiple locations as required.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in nursing is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Current Arizona Registered Nurse license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
- Experience with Cerner EMR is required.
Patient Care Information
The nursing unit is a step down from ICU, and RNs should be able to handle cardiac drips and be familiar with TAVRs and Watchman mitral clips at a minimum.
Schedule Details
- Nights: 7 PM - 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week).
- Must work 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule.
Work Environment
This position requires flexibility to float between departments and four different locations within the region.
