Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU/Telemetry
Job Description
The PCU/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for evaluating assigned patients, planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care. The RN assists physicians during examinations and procedures, performs various patient tests, and administers medications within the registered nurse's scope of practice.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate assigned patients and establish nursing care plans.
- Implement and document nursing care effectively.
- Assist physicians during examinations and medical procedures.
- Perform various patient tests and administer medications.
- Educate patients and their families on conditions, medications, and self-care skills to promote independence.
- Utilize experience and judgment to plan and meet patient care goals.
- Complete a variety of tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Current registered nurse license in Arizona.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Two or more years of experience in a similar role.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the nursing field.
- Experience with Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) system is required.
Work Schedule
This position requires availability for day shifts, working three 12-hour shifts per week. The RN is expected to work six weekend shifts within a six-week schedule.
Additional Information
This role is part of a float pool, requiring flexibility to float between departments and multiple locations within the region.
Patient Care Details
The unit functions as a step-down from the ICU, so the RN should be capable of managing cardiac drips and be familiar with procedures such as TAVRs and Watchman mitral clips.
