Registered Nurse (RN) / PCU / Telemetry
Job Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the PCU/Telemetry unit is responsible for evaluating assigned patients while planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care. This role also includes assisting physicians during examinations and procedures, performing various patient tests, and administering medication within the nurse's scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and monitor assigned patients' conditions and needs.
- Plan, implement, and document nursing care for patients in the PCU/Telemetry setting.
- Assist physicians during examinations and various medical procedures.
- Perform patient tests and administer medications as prescribed.
- Promote patient independence by establishing care goals and educating patients and families on their conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
- Utilize experience and judgment to achieve care goals effectively.
- Adapt to a variety of tasks and be open to utilizing creativity in patient care.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Nursing; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Current nursing license in Arizona.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures applicable to the nursing field.
- Experience with Cerner EMR is required.
Unit Information
This position is located in a telemetry unit that functions as a step-down from ICU. Nurses should be capable of handling cardiac drips and familiar with procedures such as TAVRs and Watchman mitral clips.
Work Schedule
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM; working three 12-hour shifts per week.
- Must be willing to work a total of six weekend shifts over a six-week schedule.
- Position requires flexibility to float between multiple facilities within the region.
Patient Care Ratio
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 6:1, allowing for dedicated and focused patient care.
Scrub Color
Nurses may wear scrubs of any color.
