Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates and implements an individualized care plan for each patient using the nursing process while adhering to organizational standards, policies, and values.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on assessments to optimize outcomes and efficiently utilize resources.
  • Exhibits critical thinking skills and decisive judgment, working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Follows triage, treatment, evaluation, and documentation protocols.
  • Utilizes evidence-based practices to collaborate with the healthcare team, ensuring coordinated care, including patient transfer, discharge, referrals, and psychosocial support.
  • Identifies communication barriers stemming from psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural factors.
  • Assesses learning needs of patients and families, providing appropriate education tailored to their circumstances.
  • Delegates patient care tasks effectively and may mentor student nurses and new hires.
  • Practices according to professional and ethical standards as outlined in the ANA Code of Ethics and state nursing regulations.
  • Demonstrates compassionate behavior and develops therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting before starting employment.

Education and Certifications

  • Current and active Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact license - Required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtained within ninety (90) days of hire) - Required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or obtained within six (6) months of hire) - Required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (or obtained within one (1) year of hire) - Required.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (or obtained within one (1) year of hire) - Required.
  • STABLE certification (or obtained within one (1) year of hire) - Required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or obtained within one (1) year of hire) - Required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field - Preferred.

Experience

  • Two years of hospital nursing experience - Preferred.
  • One year of Emergency Department (ED) or Critical Care Nursing experience - Preferred.
