Registered Nurse (RN)

Department: ER/Medsurg/Swing

Experience Required: A minimum of 1 year of ER experience and charge experience is mandatory.

Certifications Required:

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• PALS
• TNCC

Preferred Experience: Critical Access experience is strongly preferred.

Unit Information:

• Trauma Level: Critical Access
• ER Beds/Trauma Bays: 2 ER beds, 10 Medsurge beds
• Nurse-Patient Ratios:
  • ER: 1:3-4
  • Medsurge Days: 1:5
  • Medsurge Nights: 1:6
• Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:
  • ER: Traumas, Strokes, STEMIs, Chest pain, Respiratory diagnoses, Lacerations
  • Medsurge: Pediatrics to geriatrics, Pneumonia, UTIs, Observation patients, Some short-term swing bed patients
• Common Drips: Heparin and Levophed
• Charge Nurse: Yes, with an assignment on each shift
• Support Staff: No nurse aides/EMT/Paramedics in the ER; Medsurg has 1:8 nurse aids
• Telemetry/Monitor: RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips.

Work Requirements:

• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: Every third holiday
• Floating Requirements: Will float between ER, Medsurg, and Swing Bed
• Orientation: 1-12 hour shift of unit/department specific orientation
