Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, providing care to a diverse patient population. This position requires availability for night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Emergency Room (ER)
- Number of Beds: 33 total patient care rooms, including 25 with cardiac monitors
- Patient Care Ratio: 1 to 4
- Annual Average Patient Volume: Approximately 210 patients
- Common Diagnoses: Routine ER patients, with transfers for STEMIs, hemorrhagic strokes, and pediatric cases
- Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Schedule Details
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Shift Timing: Night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM
- Weekend Commitment: 2 weekends every 4 weeks
- Holiday Coverage: 2 out of 3 major holidays
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an emergency room setting
- Experience with Cerner EMR is preferred; indicate previous facilities on resume
- Strong documentation skills required
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
Nursing Support
- Charge nurse coverage available 24/7
- Emergency Room Technicians (Techs) are utilized, with backgrounds as EMTs, MAs, or CNAs for technical duties and EKGs
Additional Information
- Self-scheduling is employed; schedules may be adjusted by the unit scheduler as needed
- Floor-specific orientation program will be provided for up to 6 shifts with a preceptor
- The unit follows EMTALA regulations to provide care regardless of patient's insurance status or ability to pay
- Strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration with physicians and midlevel providers
