Job Overview
An exciting opportunity awaits you to begin your career on a specialized neurological unit. This unit provides an excellent platform to acquire knowledge about various neurological diseases while honing your nursing and critical thinking skills. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment, caring for patients with conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Guillain-Barre Syndrome, among others.
As a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center and the only Level 4 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in the region, this unit accommodates many acute and complex patients. Utilizing state-of-the-art continuous video EEG technology, your role will involve working closely with a specialty team to evaluate, diagnose, and treat seizures.
You will work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team that values the skills, talents, and compassion of nurses, dedicated to providing exceptional care for our patient population.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with neurological conditions.
- Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Utilize critical thinking and clinical skills in a fast-paced environment to manage complex patient needs.
- Conduct telemetry monitoring and respond to patient changes promptly.
- Engage in ongoing assessment and documentation of patient care.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience.
- Telemetry experience is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- NIHSS certification is required.
