We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) position at a leading acute-care hospital in Aurora, CO. This contract role offers a unique opportunity to work in a high-acuity pediatric critical care environment, providing care for complex medical and surgical patient populations.
Position Overview: As a PICU RN, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients from birth through 21 years of age. You will work in a Level Three PICU, where your expertise in managing respiratory diagnoses, chronic childhood diseases, and various critical conditions will be invaluable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, implementing appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Float to other inpatient care areas as needed, including Critical Care Units and Acute Care Floors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BSN required
- Current Colorado RN License
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a staff RN in a comparable PICU
- Experience with respiratory diagnoses requiring support, chronic childhood diseases, and surgical patients
- Required Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA PALS
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of PICU staff experience
- 1 year of travel experience in a teaching facility preferred
Scheduling and Other Requirements:
- 12H Rotating shifts, with a weekend requirement of every other weekend.
- Float requirement to all inpatient care areas, except Emergency Department, OR/PACU, and Inpatient Psychiatry.
- No time off allowed during the first 2 weeks.
- Medical/religious exemptions for flu vaccine allowed.
