Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a Position Care Unit (PCU). This is a fast-paced environment that requires exceptional patient care skills and a focus on teamwork.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Stepdown
- Number of Beds: 22
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4
Common Diagnoses
- Heart failure
- Atrial fibrillation (Afib)
- Respiratory distress
- Stroke
Duties and Responsibilities
- Titrate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Nitro.
- Read and interpret telemetry strips independently.
- Work collaboratively with a charge nurse who maintains a patient assignment.
- Assist with the management of respiratory equipment such as CPAP.
- Support patient care techs, with a ratio of 1:10.
- Float to ICU if appropriate and as per experience.
Shift Information
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Shift Type: Nights
- Scheduling: Cyclic scheduling, with options for self-scheduling. Weekend requirements include every other weekend.
- Holiday Requirements: 1 major and 1 minor holiday.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a clinical setting.
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS
- BLS Certification
- NIHSS
- Additional Notes: Must adhere to fingernail policy; artificial nails are prohibited. A positive attitude and a patient-oriented approach are essential for success in this role.
Orientation
One 12-hour shift of department-specific orientation will be provided.
