L&D Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) will provide care in a fast-paced environment, supporting patients before, during, and after childbirth. The RN will work within a team to ensure optimal care standards and follow established protocols.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Number of L&D Beds: 15 total (7 L&D, 8 Postpartum)
- Operating Room Suites for C-Sections: 1
- Average Births: 58 per month
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:1 for titrated drips; 1:3 for couplet care
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assessments and interpret fetal monitoring strips.
- Titrate medications as required, including pitocin, insulin, and magnesium drips.
- Provide couplet care for mother and newborn.
- Participate in quality metrics and improve patient care outcomes.
- Adapt to changing patient needs and float to other units as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive care.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
- Required certifications: BLS Certification and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring.
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, NRP, STABLE.
- Ability to read and interpret fetal strips.
- Strong critical thinking skills and effective communication abilities.
- Experience in a critical care or high-acuity environment preferred.
Work Schedule
- Shifts: Day/Night rotation (12-hour shifts)
- Schedule: Guaranteed 48 hours per week
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday
Floating and Orientation
- Float to Medsurg and ER as needed.
- Three shifts of department-specific orientation are provided.
Additional Information
- Scrubs will be provided; the color is maroon.
- Candidates must be flexible and willing to adapt to change.
- All requests for time-off must be submitted upfront as additional requests will not be approved.
