Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary
The Operating Room Registered Nurse will primarily be responsible for applying the nursing process to the care of veteran patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room. This position involves ensuring that appropriate documentation reflects the assessment of patient needs, interdisciplinary treatment plans, clinical interventions, and evaluations of patients' responses to treatments. The nurse will also be responsible for assigning and evaluating the work of non-nursing direct care providers in the operating room.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs and develop effective nursing care plans.
- Document clinical interventions and evaluate patients' responses to treatments.
- Assign and evaluate non-nursing staff in the operating room.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare personnel.
Required Skills & Experience
- Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate nursing care plans.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and hospital staff.
- Experience in a Level I trauma setting.
- Capability to scrub is a plus.
- Must be able to circulate in endovascular, spine, neuro, ortho, and ortho trauma procedures.
Education
- Required Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
- Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Certifications & Licensure
- Required:
- BLS - American Heart Association
- New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse License or Multi-state Compact License
- Preferred:
- ACLS - American Heart Association
- PALS
Work Schedule
The schedule includes three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with every other weekend required. Holiday availability is also necessary as needed.
Additional Information
Scrubs will be provided. The role may require floating to Ambulatory Surgery Centers as needed.
