Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Telemetry

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a position in Cardiac Telemetry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing continuous intravenous medications and caring for a diverse patient population. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a telemetry setting, with specific expertise in treating cardiac conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage patients receiving various cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin.
• Administer diuretics such as Bumex and Lasix.
• Monitor and administer anticoagulants, including Aggrastat, Argatroban, and Heparin.
• Oversee insulin drips and manage related patient care.
• Manage overflow IMCU patients with conditions such as arrhythmias, cardiac CHF, and chest pain.
• Provide care for renal and pulmonary patients (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT).
• Assist with surgical patients including cholecystectomy and appendectomy cases.
• Work with patients recovering from cardiac catheterization and managing TR Bands.
• Occasionally care for orthopedic or cerebrovascular accident (CVA) overflow patients.
• Utilize Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
• Demonstrated knowledge in basic arrhythmia management and critical care skills.

Work Environment

• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 across a 32-bed unit.
• Shifts available: 4x12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:00).
• Floating within the facility may be required as needed.
• Maximum of 7 days of time off per contract.
• Weekends typically every other weekend, with flexibility based on staffing needs.
• Occasional call requirements with a response time of 2 hours, though typically rare for travelers.

Holiday Commitment

• Travellers are expected to work on one major holiday if it falls within their assignment period. Additional holiday coverage may also be required.
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Years Eve/New Years Day.

Full compliance with all requirements is necessary to ensure a timely start. Delays in compliance may result in a pushback of up to 2 weeks due to the orientation schedule.
