Registered Nurse (RN) - Long-Term Care
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care across the lifespan in alignment with organizational standards, policies, and evidence-based practices. The RN employs the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered services. This role involves collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes, safety, and overall patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to patients with acute, chronic, and postoperative conditions across diverse diagnoses.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop personalized care plans.
- Implement and evaluate nursing interventions based on patient responses.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely in accordance with provider orders and policies.
- Recognize changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate interventions or escalate care as needed.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding care, medications, and discharge requirements.
- Deliver culturally sensitive and patient-centered care.
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members for coordinated care delivery.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
- Advocate for patients and assist them in navigating the healthcare system.
- Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of hire.
- Knowledge of nursing principles, evidence-based practices, medication safety, and infection prevention.
- Strong clinical judgment, organization, prioritization, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to stand for extended periods and perform bending, stooping, and kneeling tasks.
- Willingness to work in a moderate-to-high noise clinical environment.
Work Schedule
Flexible work schedule required, including three 12-hour shifts per week encompassing day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Experience in geriatric and dementia care is preferred.
Additional Information
Employees are expected to comply with safe work practices, report injuries, and unsafe conditions, as well as cooperate in safety investigations.
