Job Opportunity – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) RN – Wisconsin
Start Date: December 14, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), every other weekend, some holidays, no call. Four 12-hour shifts per week available. Blocked weekend scheduling options available based on preference.
Highlights:
- 27-bed Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic ICU specializing in post-cardiac surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical patients
- Patient ratio typically 1-2 patients per nurse; may flex to 3 general care patients based on acuity
- Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation provided
- Trauma Level I facility with interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
- Advanced technology including CRRT (NxStage), IABP, Impella, and LVAD devices
- Magnet-designated teaching institution recognized as a leading referral center
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Wisconsin or Compact state)
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care CVICU experience within the last 3 years
- Required: CVICU experience, NextStage CVVH machine experience, Trauma Level I experience
- Preferred: Cardiothoracic surgery experience, acuity adaptable unit experience, ECMO experience, Zoll Thermoguard experience
- Patient ratio experience with 2-3 patients required
- Must successfully pass telemetry examination prior to start with strict passing criteria (80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
- Floating to other units as needed is required
