Job Opportunity – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse – Wisconsin
Start Date: November 30, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), every other weekend rotation, some holidays required, no call. Four 12-hour shifts per week or blocked weekends scheduling available based on preference.
Highlights:
- 27-bed Cardiothoracic ICU specializing in cardiac surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical patients
- Patient ratio typically 1-2 patients, may occasionally be assigned 3 general care patients based on acuity and staffing
- Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation provided
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Dynamic unit with planned and emergent procedures; strong team support with 2 charge RNs and resource staff available
- Magnet-designated facility recognized as a leading teaching institution and referral center
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Wisconsin or Compact state)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in CVICU specialty
- CVICU experience required
- Experience and knowledge of NxStage CVVH machine required
- Experience with patient ratios of 2-3 patients
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
- ECMO experience strongly preferred
- Zoll Thermoguard experience strongly preferred
- Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (strict passing criteria apply)
- Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Floating to other units as needed
