Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health / Psychiatry
Specialty: Behavioral Health / Inpatient Psychiatry
Shift: Days – 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start: Monday starts preferred; limited exceptions.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Implement and evaluate nursing interventions.
- Provide psychiatric nursing care in a safe, therapeutic environment.
- Monitor patients' mental and physical health conditions.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Communicate changes in patient conditions to appropriate clinical personnel.
- Participate in discharge planning and care coordination.
- Float between units as needed.
Patient Population
- Pediatric: Ages 5–17 (12 beds).
- Adult: Two inpatient units (24 beds each).
- Geriatric: 24 beds.
- Total facility capacity: 104 beds across five units.
Common diagnoses: Schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and substance use disorders.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Massachusetts RN license.
- Graduate of an accredited BSN, ADN, or Nursing Diploma program.
- 18 months–2 years of experience required.
- Previous inpatient psychiatric nursing experience required.
- Must be comfortable working with both adult and pediatric populations.
- Current BLS certification required.
- HWC certification required (available onsite).
- ACLS preferred.
Facility & Unit Details
- Patient ratio: Approximately 1:8 (varies by unit).
- EHR: Cerner.
- Scrub color: Blue.
- Floating: Required.
- Weekends: As needed / every other weekend.
- Call: As needed.
- Block scheduling: Not available.
Travel Eligibility & Important Policies
- Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the assigned facility to qualify for the travel rate.
- Local candidates are currently NOT being accepted.
- Local rate will be determined separately.
- Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months.
- Monday starts are standard, with limited exceptions.
