Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurse (RN) opportunity in a unit specializing in post-operative cardiac care. This role involves caring for patients with diagnoses such as postoperative coronary bypass graft, valve surgeries, chest pain, dysrhythmias with pre/post pacemaker or ICD placement, pre/post catheterization, and heart failure. The position requires the ability to interpret heart monitors, perform trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and phlebotomy, along with experience in post-op heart surgery patient care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, a minimum of 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale); 1 year of healthcare experience; current licensure and certifications within the state of practice; willingness to float within scope of practice and below
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with heart monitor interpretation, managing drips such as Primacor, amiodarone, dobutamine, heparin; skills in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, phlebotomy, and post-op heart surgery care
- Orientation: Day 1 New Employee Orientation; Day 2 Patient Experience and NVCI class; Day 3 Nursing Orientation; Day 4 Unit Orientation (day); Day 5 Unit Orientation (night)
- Scheduling: Every other weekend rotation; no on-call requirement; holiday shifts based on unit need; NM approval required for time off
