Registered Nurse (RN) - Stepdown
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown unit. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients, particularly those recovering from catheterization procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, with experience in tele-monitoring and post-operative care.
Unit Information
- Unit: 4IC PCU - Stepdown
- Number of Beds: 32
- Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4-6, depending on acuity
- Common Diagnoses: Post-catherization patients, chest tube management, tele-monitoring medical population
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage patients, including those requiring telemetry and post-operative care.
- Titrate medications as necessary; experience with titratable drips required.
- Administer and manage care for patients on Cpap, BiPap, and high flow oxygen; work in collaboration with respiratory therapists.
- Participate in self-scheduling while maintaining a balanced workload.
- Read telemetry strips and respond to changes in patient rhythms.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a relevant nursing role.
- Certifications: Current ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required.
- Skills: Ability to care for patients with chest tubes and experience with TAVR preferred.
Schedule and Requirements
- Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirements: 6 shifts in a 6-week period
- Holiday Requirements: 2 summer and 3 winter holidays
- Floating Requirements: May be required to float to other units
Dress Code
Nurses are required to wear galaxy blue scrubs.
Orientation
New hires will undergo 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation to ensure familiarity with protocols and procedures.
