Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a Cardiac Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will work with a diverse patient population, including adults and geriatrics, focusing on post-myocardial infarction care, heart failure, arrhythmias, chest pain, and peripheral vascular disease.

Responsibilities

• Perform vital sign checks and blood glucose checks for all assigned patients.
• Monitor and assess patients’ conditions, including telemetry readings and EKG interpretation.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams using SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation).
• Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record (Epic).
• Provide support in peritoneal dialysis as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Charge nurse experience is required.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are mandatory.
• Proficient in telemetry and understanding of Doppler technology.

Work Setting and Requirements

• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 in a unit with 16 beds and an average daily census of 16 patients.
• The nurse will wear navy blue scrubs during shifts.
• Availability for 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule period is required.
• Floating within the facility may be required, based on patient needs and scope of practice.

Scheduling and Availability

• Nurses must have a maximum of 7 requested time off (RTO) days during the contract period.
• Specific blackout dates for RTO are noted during the Spring Break period (April 4th - 12th).
• If assigned during a major holiday (e.g., Memorial Day, Independence Day), the nurse is expected to work as per the holiday requirement policy.

Compliance

Full compliance with credentialing and onboarding is required prior to the scheduled start date. Delays in compliance may result in a postponement of at least 2 weeks due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule.
