Acute Psych/Detox Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Acute Psych/Detox Registered Nurse to join our team. This position involves working in a psychiatric unit with a focus on providing care for individuals experiencing mental health challenges and addiction issues.
Shift Details
- Shift: Nights
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- 3 out of 6 major holidays required
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an acute psychiatric or detox setting
- Current BLS Certification
- IV experience is required
Responsibilities
- Conduct admissions, assessments, and medication administration (patients come to the desk for meds)
- Lead medication education groups
- Provide compassionate and professional care to a diverse patient population
- Ensure compliance with facility rules and maintain patient safety
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, psychiatrists, therapists, and social workers
Patient Population
The nursing staff will work with a largely indigent population, treating co-occurring mental health disorders and substance use issues. The patient population includes individuals with low violence tendencies, substance abuse challenges, and medically cleared mental health conditions.
Unit Information
- Enjoy working in a low-violence facility with a strong support system, including a restraint team when necessary
- Work in a variety of units including long-term care, locked acute psych units, and detox units
- Average patient stay ranges from 5 to 14 days across different units
Additional Notes
This position requires a nurse who is proactive, compassionate, and dedicated to patient care. The facility prioritizes communication and teamwork, and all nursing staff are expected to engage actively in providing care. Regular orientation will be provided for all new hires across different units.
