Position Summary:
Level 3 NICU travel assignment in the Sacramento area. Patients are babies only, mainly respiratory failure and preterm infants. There are no cardiac surgery or defect repair cases. The unit has 26 to 30 beds, and the hospital is designated “baby friendly” with strong breastfeeding support. Peds experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide bedside care to Level 3 NICU infants, including preterm and respiratory-failure patients
• Manage ventilated patients, with a hospitalist or intensivist in house and RT on site 24/7
• Chart in Cerner
• Give report at the bedside
• Float to other Sacramento facilities when needed (a mid-shift float is rare)

Requirements:

• Active California RN license
• BLS (AHA) and NRP
• Level 3 NICU experience (Peds experience preferred)
• Two supervisor references from the unit type (a charge nurse is accepted): one within the last 12 months and one within the last 3 years
• Copy of government-issued ID at submittal (name must match exactly, no middle name or initial)
• No employment in the past year with any CommonSpirit, CHI or Dignity facility (PRN through an outside firm is okay)

Shift: 3x12 Days & Nights. The shift starts at 6:45. Every other weekend is required, and you’d work 2 of the 3 major holidays. OT and extra shifts are available. Self-scheduling is used, and schedules come out 4 weeks ahead.
