ER RN, Riverside, CA
Position Summary:
Travel ER RN needed for a Level 1 trauma Emergency Department in Riverside, CA, with 4 openings to cover a peak in census. The role requires strong ED skills across the age range from birth to geriatric, and the ability to handle everything from minor illness to life-threatening injury. This is a teaching/residency-model ED.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients on admission and reassess at least every shift, covering physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs
- Establish, review and update each patient’s plan of care
- Administer oral, topical and parenteral medications using the 7 rights, including high-risk medications per hospital/ED policy
- Perform treatments and procedures using sterile technique, standard precautions and patient privacy practices
- Interpret diagnostic data, intervene appropriately, and promptly communicate changes in condition to physicians and the care team
- Use SBAR for all handoffs, and document accurately and legibly
- Educate patients and families, and document patient teaching and discharge planning
- Manage patients in restraints per policy
- Know how to activate the Rapid Response Team, and understand patient flow through the ED, including Rapid Medical Evaluation (RME)
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals, infection control and blood transfusion policies
- Complete the ED skills checklist before the first scheduled shift
Requirements:
- Current California RN license
- ACLS, BLS and PALS
- Current CPI (required)
- TNCC or ATCN
- NIHSS
- 4 years of ED experience in a Level 1 trauma center
- Recent ER experience in an acute care facility
