Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients in both the emergency room and medical surgical units.

Shift Details

• Day/Night Rotate
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and holiday required
• 3 call shifts required in a 13-week contract

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered nursing care in the Emergency Room and Med Surg unit.
• Monitor and assess patients' conditions regularly, ensuring timely interventions.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families.
• Function independently in the ER and manage a patient load of up to 5 in the Med Surg unit.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 6 months of recent experience in both Emergency Room and Medical Surgical settings.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program); TNCC preferred.
• Must be able to badge in and out of the facility.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with computerized charting and medication systems (e.g., Sanford One Charge, Pyxis).
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Nurse to Patient Ratio

In the Med Surg unit, the typical nurse to patient ratio is 3 to 4 patients per nurse, depending on census and acuity.

Dress Code

Navy scrubs required, without logos. A white undershirt or lab coat may be worn under the uniform.

Training Requirements

• EPIC computer training
• One day of training specific to the Emergency Room
• One day of training specific to the Medical Surgical unit
