Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, primarily caring for admitted patients. The ideal candidate will have experience in a Level I trauma setting and the ability to perform under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications accurately and safely, including intravenous medications, while adhering to the seven medication rights.
• Document and communicate clinical findings effectively with the healthcare team.
• Participate in the care and management of patients in the Emergency Department.
• Float to Pediatric Emergency Department and Adult Patient Care Units as needed based on staffing requirements.
• Maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 while ensuring high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN in an Emergency Department setting; 1.5 years may be considered if the candidate has strong Level I trauma experience.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC. TNCC must be completed prior to submission.
• Level I trauma experience is preferred.
• Travel experience is strongly preferred; candidates with 2+ years of Level I experience may be considered even if travel experience is limited.

Work Schedule and Requirements

• Shifts available: 36 or 48 hours per week, depending on qualifications.
• Weekend work is required; schedules will include day and night shifts on weekends.
• No local candidates will be accepted within a 100-mile radius.
• Ability to work on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day is mandatory for holiday pay; no requests for time off during the holiday season will be permitted.
• Onboarding includes submission of vaccination status for COVID-19, which is optional.

Additional Information

• Guaranteed hours range from 36 to 48 hours per week, though the facility may call off shifts as needed during a 13-week assignment (up to 3 times).
• A 6-month break is required after four consecutive assignments or upon reaching one year in the role.
• Charting is conducted using Cerner electronic health record system.
