Job Overview
An exciting opportunity for a Medsurg/Onc Registered Nurse (RN) to join a dedicated team in a collaborative and supportive environment. This position is essential in providing quality care to patients on a Medical/Surgical and Oncology unit.
Job Details
- Unit: Med Surg (Medical Surgical)
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
- Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years
- Department Specifics: Core staff will administer chemotherapy with no Oncology provider available on the current day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with various diagnoses, including strokes, hypertension, COPD, CHF, atrial fibrillation, and oncology-related conditions.
- Administer and titrate intravenous medications and drips, including Lasix and Heparin, with a preference for previous experience in these areas.
- Float to other Medical/Surgical units as needed; may occasionally hold patients in the emergency room.
- Work collaboratively with a Charge Nurse who will serve as a resource and support on each shift.
- Utilize telemetry packs and work with a monitor tech to manage patient rhythms; RN will not be required to interpret strips independently.
- Coordinate care with patient care techs/nurse aids on a 1:8 ratio, providing support for daily tasks and patient needs.
Qualifications
- Current BLS Certification required.
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification preferred.
- Ability to manage and provide care for patients requiring BiPAP support; previous experience with trach care is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to foster a positive unit culture.
Scheduling and Orientation
- Work Schedule: 0700-1930 and 1900-0730 shifts available.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
- Holiday Requirement: As needed.
- Orientation: 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided to ensure comfort and competence in the role.

This position is located in a vibrant community setting in City, ST.
