Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care on a dynamic MedSurg Float unit, working with diverse patient populations in various medical and surgical conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional nursing care to both surgical and medical patients.
- Assess patient needs, develop care plans, and evaluate patient progress.
- Coordinate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in patient and family education regarding health conditions and post-treatment care.
- Float between MedSurg units as needed, adapting to varying patient loads and conditions.
Unit Information
- Unit Name: MS Float
- Cost Center: 6046
- Combined Number of Beds: 61
- Patient Ratios: 1:5 during days and 1:6 during nights.
- Common Diagnoses: Surgical patients (e.g., total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general) and medical patients (e.g., CHF, CVA, SOB, diabetic issues).
- Nurse Aid Ratio: 1:15.
Schedule & Requirements
- Shift Length: 12 hours.
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday.
- Floating Requirement: Yes, including the expectation to float to other units as necessary.
- Call or Standby Requirement: Yes, with LCD.
- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Any scrub color.
Qualifications
- Current BLS Certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a MedSurg environment.
- Proficient in reading cardiac strips.
- Must be adaptable and willing to work in a float capacity across multiple areas.
Orientation & Training
Comprehensive orientation and training provided, including a unit-specific float checklist to ensure readiness for various patient care situations.
