Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a position in the Medical Surgical Float unit. This role requires expertise in managing a variety of patient diagnoses, including surgical and medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a float capacity.
- Monitor patient conditions and collaborate with healthcare teams to develop effective care plans.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients on the Medical Surgical unit.
- Assist with patient education and communication regarding diagnoses and treatment options.
Unit Information
- Unit Name: Medical Surgical Float
- Cost Center: 6046
- Bed Capacity: 61 combined beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Days 1:5 and Nights 1:6
- Support Staff: 1 nurse aide for every 15 patients
- Available Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, hi-flow oxygen therapy
- Telemonitoring: Monitor technicians will oversee patient monitoring; RNs will confirm readings.
Scheduling Requirements
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- On-call/Standby Requirement: Yes, with limited call duties
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a similar medical-surgical environment.
- Current BLS Certification required.
- Experience in managing both surgical and medical patient populations.
- Ability to float to various areas within the unit as required.
Dress Code
Any scrub color is acceptable for the position.
Orientation
Orientation will include both travel orientation and a unit-specific float checklist to familiarize you with unit protocols.
