Medsurg/Onc Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medsurg/Onc Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position is within a medical surgical unit specializing in oncology, requiring RNs to assist with chemotherapy in a collaborative environment. The role involves providing care to adult and geriatric patients with various medical diagnoses.
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 31
- Nurse-Patient Ratios:
- Days: 1:4-5
- Nights: 1:5-6
- Common Diagnoses: Strokes, Hypertension, COPD, Cellulitis, Congestive Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, Chest Pain, Myocardial Infarction, Altered Mental Status, Behavioral Issues, Surgical Overflow, and Oncology Patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a fast-paced environment.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
- Titrate intravenous drips as needed (experience with Lasix and Heparin preferred).
- Utilize assessment skills to identify changes in patient conditions and respond accordingly.
- Collaborate with the Charge Nurse and other nursing staff.
- Float to other Medsurg units as necessary.
- Work effectively within a team structure to enhance patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a medical surgical nursing role, experience with trach and BiPAP preferred but not required.
- Certifications: Current BLS certification and NIHSS certification required.
Work Schedule
- Night shifts are required, with every other weekend included.
- Scheduling managed by the unit manager with considerations for block scheduling if unit needs are met.
