Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
General Information
We are currently seeking a dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position involves providing care to a diverse population of patients in a dynamic Labor and Delivery department.
Unit Information
- Beds: 10 Labor & Delivery beds; 4 OB ED (Triage beds); 4 Antepartum rooms
- Patient Types: High-risk to low-intervention laboring patients, antepartum, OB triage, postpartum, and infants.
- Patient Ratios:
- Antepartum: 1:3
- Inactive Labor: 1:2
- Active Labor: 1:1
- Postpartum/Couplet care: 1:3 couplets
Qualifications
- Required:
- BLS Certification
- NRP Certification
- Preferred:
- ACLS Certification
- Certification in Inpatient Obstetrics
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification
- Inpatient Antepartum Certification
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery, preferably in a Level 3 or higher unit
- Must be comfortable managing high-acuity labor patients
- EPIC charting experience is highly preferred
- Must be able to care for couplets and normal newborn nursery patients (Level I care)
- Preferred experience with lower acuity NICU patient care (Level II care)
Role Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Performing nursing duties related to labor and delivery
- Providing antepartum care and managing laboring patients
- Administering medications, initiating IVs, and performing cervical checks
- Circulating in C-sections and providing recovery care
- Caring for postpartum patients and their newborns
- Working effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, anesthesiologists, and respiratory therapists
Orientation and Support
New hires will receive orientation, including 4 days with a preceptor—3 days in Labor & Delivery and 1 day in Postpartum. Support is available through a unit secretary and a VAT team as needed.
Scheduling
- Shift Details: 12-hour shifts, variable hours, required to work both nights and days throughout the duration of the contract
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Holiday Expectations: Available as needed
- Time Off: Requires manager approval
Additional Notes
- Scrub color: Cobalt Blue (provided by the facility)

- May be expected to precept students
- Could be placed on low census call if necessary
