LDRP Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced LDRP Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This position involves providing exceptional care to women during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. The successful candidate will engage in a variety of responsibilities, including patient assessment, monitoring, and intervention.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Number of L&D Beds: 7
- Number of Postpartum Beds: 12 Postpartum, 8 Surgical
- Number of OR Suites for C-Sections: 1 dedicated C-Section OR, 2 GYN surgical ORs
- Number of Triage Beds: 3 bay triage (averaging 17 patients per month)
- Annual Births: Approximately 643
- Patient Ratios: L&D - 1:1-2; Postpartum - 1:2-3 couplets, 1:3-4 surgical/medical
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments of pregnant women throughout labor and delivery.
- Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs with an emphasis on safety protocols.
- Administer medications and titrate IV drips as per protocols (e.g., Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Insulin).
- Assist with both vaginal and surgical deliveries, including C-sections.
- Provide care for postpartum patients and their newborns, addressing both normal and high-risk scenarios.
- Engage with the healthcare team to implement care plans and improve patient outcomes.
- Participate in unit orientation and mentoring of new staff or travelers.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in Labor & Delivery (LDRP).
- Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (Advanced preferred).
- Ability to scrub in for surgical procedures is preferred.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with diverse case types including, but not limited to, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and postpartum complications.
Schedule
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift Requirement: Nights, every third weekend, as needed for holidays.
- Orientation: 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation.
Additional Information
The unit values high patient satisfaction and fosters an environment conducive to providing exceptional care. Flexibility in scheduling and the ability to float to pediatric units, NICU, and other medical/surgical areas may be required.
