Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a 35-bed acute care facility located in City, State. This nursing role involves working across multiple units, including the Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Medical Surgical (Med Surg) areas.

Unit Information

• Emergency Room (ER): 9 treatment spaces (8 beds and 1 hallway space)
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU): 4 beds
• Medical Surgical: 15 beds

Patient Types

The patient population includes individuals of all ages with various conditions such as:

• Sepsis
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Alcohol-related issues (ETOH)
• Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)
• Myocardial Infarction (MI)
• Trauma
• Stroke

Patient Ratios

• ED: 1:3-4
• ICU: 1:1-2 (dependent on acuity/age)
• Med Surg: 1:5 (dependent on acuity/age)

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• TNCC
• PALS
• NIHSS (preferred)
• CPI (preferred)

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• A minimum of 1.5 years of experience in acute care, with Med Surg experience accepted in lieu of ER or ICU experience.
• A completion of a nursing education program approved by a Board of Nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, you will be expected to:

• Provide general emergency department experience and critical care for ICU holds.
• Manage trauma cases and perform complex wound care.
• Conduct thorough nursing assessments.
• Demonstrate comfortability working across the ER, ICU, and Med Surg units.

Support on the Unit

• IV/V support available
• Charge nurse acting as a hospital coordinator
• Resource Nurse available (same as charge nurse)
• Respiratory Therapy (RT) support
• Hospitalist coverage with APP coverage at night

Charting System

Experience with EPIC charting system is required.

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation occurs every other week.
• No on-call requirements.
• Holidays are expected every other year.
• Time off approval is granted for up to 7 days, with an extension of the contract required for any time missed.
