Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specialized in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in operating room nursing with a focus on cardiac and vascular cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the cardiovascular operating room.
• Maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:1, ensuring optimal care and attention during procedures.
• Utilize advanced surgical equipment, including Davinci robots and Stealth technology for neuro navigation.
• Conduct general circulating and scrub duties as required, with a preference for candidates experienced in both roles.
• Coordinate and assist in surgical procedures for diverse specialties, including cardiac, vascular, thoracic, and general surgeries.
• Participate in holiday and weekend rotations, as well as being on-call as necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 24 months current/recent experience in the operating room with a focus on cardiovascular cases.
• Proficiency in general circulating duties with a strong emphasis on cardiac and vascular surgical procedures.
• Basic experience in general surgery circulating is required.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record systems within the last three years is mandatory.
• Prior experience in Level I or Level II trauma environments is preferred.
• Must have completed a travel assignment within the last 15 months; first-time travelers will not be considered.
• Scrubbing experience, particularly in open-heart surgeries, is required.
• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license is required at the time of application.
• Current BLS certification from an approved provider is mandatory.

Orientation and Training

The orientation schedule consists of 2-3 weeks in general operating room settings for familiarization with departmental protocols, followed by training in vascular procedures. Post-orientation, the focus will shift to training for heart cases and on-call responsibilities.

This position requires flexibility as RNs will be expected to provide coverage across multiple locations within the region.
