Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position located in an acute care setting. This role involves providing specialized nursing care for adult patients transitioning from critical care, with a focus on patient safety, communication, and teamwork. The position offers a night shift schedule with opportunities for professional growth in a diverse environment serving primarily Hispanic and Somali populations.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour nights, minimum of 48 hours per week, starting 11/23/2026 and ending 02/22/2027.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN license; minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale); competency in arterial lines; ability to interpret telemetry strips; ability to titrate drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin.
  • Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
  • Shift and Scheduling: 12-hour night shifts with weekend and holiday requirements, including a minimum of two holidays within the contract timeframe.
  • Orientation: One-day department-specific orientation.
  • Float Requirements: Float to medical-surgical units or ICU to manage acuity patients.
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs.
  • Additional Notes: Overhead lifts, portable lifts, vein finders, bladder scanner available on unit; focus on patient experience, responsiveness, communication, and adaptability; emphasis on teamwork and cultural competency.
  • Other Conditions: RTO (Return to Office) requested upfront, no additional RTO approvals after submission; hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment; EPIC charting system; no BSN required; license to submit required.
