PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Registered Nurse in Critical Care The organization is seeking a dedicated PACU RN to provide high-quality care in the post-anesthesia phase of surgical patients. This role involves monitoring and managing patients recovering from anesthesia, administering medications, and collaborating with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and comfort during their recovery process.
Job Details
- Position Description: The PACU RN performs nursing activities in the pre-anesthesia, post-anesthesia Phase I, and post-anesthesia Phase II care of surgical patients. Responsibilities include completing nursing assessments, managing intravenous access, monitoring vital signs, administering pain medications, and providing patient education on post-operative care. The nurse acts as a patient advocate and supervises assigned personnel, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and standards of care.
- Required Qualifications: Associate of Applied Science in Nursing; current Registered Nurse License in the State of Oregon; BLS, PALS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications; one year of critical care experience or two years of medical-surgical experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Conscious sedation certification, CAPA/CPAN certification, Ultrasound Guided IV certification, CRASE training, and experience with glucometers, art lines, space labs, epic charting, bladder scanners, ultrasound machines, Belmont rapid infuser, blood warmers.
- Schedule: Rotating shift, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Additional Information: The position includes on-call responsibilities for the Post-Anesthesia Unit and involves working primarily in an indoor healthcare environment with exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment. The role demands physical ability to lift and reposition patients and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
