Registered Nurse (RN)
Join our team as a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This role is vital in ensuring the safety and comfort of patients recovering from anesthesia. The position requires dedicated professionals who are skilled in patient monitoring, airway management, and effective communication within a healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor vital signs including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and temperature, while assessing the patient's level of consciousness during recovery.
- Airway Management: Ensure a clear airway and adequate respiratory function, intervening promptly in cases of obstruction or respiratory distress.
- Symptom and Pain Management: Administer medications such as pain relievers, anti-nausea drugs, and fluids to effectively manage post-operative symptoms and enhance patient comfort.
- Assessment and Intervention: Evaluate surgical sites for bleeding or complications, check dressings, and conduct physical assessments. Recognize adverse reactions to anesthesia or surgery and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as necessary.
- Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, and communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals regarding the patient's condition and care plan.
Requirements
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience in the PACU is required.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Licensure: Must hold an active registered nurse license in the state of Michigan at the time of application.
- Weekend and On-Call Requirements: Availability to work on weekends and participate in on-call shifts is required.
