Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor Nurse in Overland Park, Kansas. This role involves providing compassionate and efficient patient care within a fast-paced orthopedic and spine specialty unit. The nurse will support a busy Level 2 trauma center, utilizing advanced communication technology and adhering to unit policies to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details:
- Shift Hours: Nights, from 06:45 PM to 07:15 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Kansas license, BLS certification, experience in acute care hospital settings on medical/surgical or tele units, and 0 or more years of experience
- Preferred Qualifications: NIH certification or similar advanced training
- Patient Ratios: 5-6:1
- Unit Information: 36 beds with all private rooms, specialized in orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions including stroke and head injuries, and traumas.
- Equipment & Technology: Traction, external fixators, halos, walkers, gait belts, bed alarms, continuous pulse oximetry, remote telemetry monitoring, Meditech electronic medical record system, and mobile heartbeat communication via iPhone 7.
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs.
- Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 06:45 PM to 07:15 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: Staff rotate through every 3rd weekend, with some rotations every other weekend during leave of absence. The unit emphasizes innovation, staff tenure, and a high retention rate, with modern equipment and a collaborative environment.
