Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary
The Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, evaluating, and delivering safe and appropriate care to patients in the Operating Room. The role encompasses a wide range of nursing duties and responsibilities to ensure optimal patient outcomes during surgical procedures.
Education & Training Requirements
- Active New Mexico or multi-state RN License
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
Work Experience Requirements
- Minimum of one year of previous experience in Operating Room (OR), Pre-Operative (Pre-OP), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), or related nursing fields preferred
Key Responsibilities
The Operating Room Registered Nurse will be expected to:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients prior to surgical procedures
- Develop and implement individualized care plans
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and comfort
- Monitor patients during surgery and respond to any changes in condition
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding pre-operative and post-operative care
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols
Skills & Competencies
Strong organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills are essential for the position. The ability to work effectively under pressure and within a team environment is also crucial.
