Medical Surgical/Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
Seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Surgical/Oncology Registered Nurse to join a 29-bed unit focused on adult patients battling cancer, as well as providing palliative care and family education. The unit also accommodates urology and telemetry patients.
Shift Details
- 3x12 hour shifts, 7pm - 7am
- Every other weekend required
- Block schedules may be accommodated
Patient Care Responsibilities
- Manage a patient ratio of 4-5:1 during day shifts and 5-6:1 during night shifts.
- Provide comprehensive care for medical and surgical patients, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Perform telemetry monitoring and central line draws.
- Administer chemotherapy and manage PCA pumps.
- Assist in bone marrow aspiration and care for Pleurx chest tubes.
- Educate patients and their families on oncological processes and treatment options.
- Float within scope to meet the facility's needs as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a similar setting.
- BLS certification is required; ONCC/ONS certification is preferred.
- Current WV/Compact RN License; pending licenses may be considered.
- Experience in chemotherapy administration is preferred but not mandatory for strong candidates.

- Level IV trauma center and major teaching hospital.
- Tabled to 838 staffed beds, indicating a robust healthcare environment.
- Charting system utilized is Cerner.
- Free parking available for staff.
Additional Information
Please limit holiday time-off requests to no more than one of the three major holidays.
