Medical Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled nurse with a strong background in telemetry and adult patient care.
Shift Details
- Schedule: 3x12 Night Shift (19:00 - 07:30)
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Weekend Shifts: 6 shifts in 6 weeks per contract
Core Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to adult patients in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit.
- Monitor telemetry for cardiac rhythms and interpret dysrhythmias.
- Manage and administer care for patients with conditions including diabetes, congestive heart failure, infections, and more.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry setting.
- Completion of at least one travel assignment.
- Required Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support).
- Preferred Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
Patient Conditions
Common patient diagnoses include but are not limited to:
- Diabetes
- Congestive heart failure
- Infection and sepsis
- COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
- General surgeries such as kidney stones, appendectomies, and minor amputations
- Sickle cell crisis, GI bleeding, and diverticulitis
- Observation and general medicine cases
Special Equipment
- Patient lifts (both ceiling and portable)
- CADD pump
- Chest tubes
- Telemetry monitoring systems
- Capnography equipment
Nurse to Patient Ratio
The nurse to patient ratio is 1:5.
Uniform Requirements
Scrubs are not provided; Caribbean Blue is the required color.
