Job Summary
Seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong background in Medical Surgical nursing to join our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in providing high-quality patient care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Unit Information
This position is within a 47-bed Medical Surgical department, focusing on both medical and surgical patients, including those undergoing surgical oncology treatments. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 during day shifts and 6:1 during night shifts.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide holistic nursing care to medical-surgical and surgical oncology patients.
- Collaborate effectively with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Demonstrate competency and utilize appropriate standards based on age and population specifications in the clinical setting.
- Participate in patient education and advocacy to ensure optimal health outcomes.
Shift and Schedule
This position requires the nurse to work 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend and holiday. All nurses must badge in and out when at the facility.
Training and Orientation
- 1-day lead center training.
- 2-12 hour shifts on the unit with a preceptor for orientation.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years recent Medical Surgical nursing experience in a hospital with at least 200 beds and a level 2 trauma center or higher.
- Experience in caring for surgical oncology patients is preferred but not required.
- Must possess an active BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license from North Dakota or a compact state.
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical records is required.
Floating Requirements
The primary assignment will be on the Medical Surgical unit, but nurses may be required to float to other medical-surgical units as needed.
