First Connect Health is seeking a travel nurse RN Electrophysiology Lab for a travel nursing job in Rochester, New York.

Main Function of the Electrophysiology RN:
The EP RN functions primarily as the primary nurse or a Circulator. As the primary nurse role, with responsibility for patient assessment, medication and safety review, clinical documentation, communication, and coordination of care before, during, and immediately following EP procedures.

 

 

Prior to entering the procedure room, the RN will review the patient’s medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory results, IV access, procedural orders, and other pertinent clinical information. The RN will identify patient-specific risks or needs and coordinate with the Electrophysiologist, Anesthesia, APPs, holding/recovery staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

 

 

During the procedure, the RN will maintain a patient-focused role, including ongoing assessment, medication administration within scope and order parameters, moderate sedation when applicable, procedural and safety documentation in Epic, and communication of changes in patient condition to the procedural team. The RN will work closely with Anesthesia during anesthetized procedures and provide backup pacing support during cardiac implant procedures as required.

 

 

The EP RN will also function in the circulator role, including obtaining and opening sterile supplies, pulling equipment, assisting with room setup and turnover, maintaining appropriate fluids and supplies for ablation procedures, and ensuring necessary equipment is available throughout the case. The RN may assist at the sterile field with basic patient and equipment preparation and preparation of sterile tables. Device scrub experience is not required.

 

 

The RN is expected to communicate effectively with physicians and in-room staff, support timely room starts and turnover, and coordinate with the Charge Nurse, vendors, and other team members to ensure safe and efficient procedural care.


Must Have:

 

 

The ability to commute with MD and other in-room staff to ensure all equipment and supplies is available. Assists in facilitating room turnover and on time starts for timely patient care. Coordinates with Charge Nurse and third-party vendors to ensure all team members will be available for scheduled procedures.

 

 

Epic is the main way of documenting in the procedure, this is required.

 

 

RN to be Proficient in moderate sedation.


Preferred or nice to have:


Cardiac implant or structural heart scrub experience is preferred but not required.

 

List typical procedures performed on unit(s): 

PFA and RF ablations (Cryo ablations): A fib/Fultter. Atrial tach, AVNRT, WPW and other ANRT ablations. (Mapping Systems include Biosense Webster Carto, Abbot EnsiteX, Boston Sci Opal, and Medtronic Affera) 

Device implants: Traditional pacemakers (single, dual, CSP, BiV) and ICD. Sub Q ICD, Leadless ppm, Loops, & LAAC: Watchmans and Amulets. 

 *HRE: laser and low risk
