Registered Nurse (RN) - ER Holding
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Adult Inpatient Admission Unit. This fast-paced unit functions similarly to an Emergency Department holding area, managing the care of patients admitted from the Emergency Department until they can be placed in a progressive care setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care while monitoring and interpreting telemetry.
- Manage a variety of medical equipment and maintain effective time management skills.
- Handle frequent admissions and transfers, ensuring efficient patient flow within the unit.
- Work collaboratively with a diverse team to manage a wide range of medical conditions—excluding ICU-level patients.
- Assume relief charge duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
- Active RN license in the state of employment.
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIH are mandatory.
- COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
Work Environment
The unit features patient ratios of 1 RN to 4-5 patients, with a total of 17 beds and up to 8 hall beds. Nurses will float between adjacent areas, including the Emergency Department and inpatient Progressive Care Unit (PCU) as needed.
Scheduling
- Shifts consist of 4 twelve-hour days from 07:00 to 19:19.
- Holiday availability is required, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day for holiday pay consideration.
- RTO restrictions: Requests off greater than 7 days need approval.
- Block scheduling will be considered.
Additional Information
- New contracts and extensions must be for a minimum of 10 weeks.
- A 6-month break is mandatory for travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached their one-year mark.
- Parking at the facility is free of charge.
