Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency medicine and a commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the emergency department.
• Conduct assessments, develop, and implement care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Monitor patient status and provide updates to the medical team.
• Assist with triage and bedside care in a dynamic environment.
• Prepare and assist with various medical procedures.
• Educate patients and families regarding health conditions and treatment options.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure.
• Minimum of 2 years of emergency department experience or equivalent in a critical access hospital.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (preferred: TNCC, NRP, ENPC).
• Ability to work effectively with limited resources in a high-stress environment.
• Willingness to work inpatient care and flexible shifts as needed.

Work Schedule

Shifts include day and mid shifts, with flexibility required based on department needs. Weekend and holiday rotations apply.

Patient Care Environment

• Emergency department treating an average of 30-40 patients per day.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4.
• Working alongside an ED provider and a PA during peak hours.
• In-house support includes ED technicians.

Orientation and Training

Comprehensive orientation will be provided, including three full shifts in the emergency department prior to opening.

Additional Information

• No designated triage nurse; bedside triage expected.
• Transport and monitoring of patients for further care and specialty services.
• All agency contracts are required to work both ER and inpatient nursing units as needed.
