Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Registered Nurse to join our clinical team. This position entails working in the Emergency Department Holding Unit with a focus on adult and geriatric patient populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
• Monitor patient health conditions, administer medications, and document patient progress.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure quality patient care.
• Float to the Emergency Department as needed.

Shift Details

This role requires a commitment to working three 12-hour night shifts per week, from 7 PM to 7 AM, including every other weekend.

Patient Ratios

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required, including at least 1 year in a specialty area.
• First-time travelers accepted, providing they have appropriate experience.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required. CPI training available through an onboarding program.
• Active RN license required (WV/Compact RN license). Pending licenses may be accepted for application submission but must be active before start date.
• Experience with Cerner electronic health records is a must.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Med-Surg, Telemetry, and Emergency Room holding preferred.
• Strong skills in IV Therapy and Phlebotomy, including patient port access, blood product administration, and peripheral line management.
• Knowledge of medication protocols including Heparin management and cardiac drip administration (no titration required).
• Proficient in managing patients with neurological and psychiatric needs, including CVA, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal.
• Experience with respiratory and thoracic care, including non-invasive airway management and care of ventilated patients preferred.

Additional Information

• No on-call requirements.
• Position may require floating to different units or areas as necessary.
• Parking is provided free of charge for staff members.
