- Location Requirement: Must live at least 50 miles from facility (per driver’s license); no local candidates
- Past Employee Policy: Cannot be a past UPH FTE or PRN employee within last 12 months; travel-only employees exempt
- Holiday Work Requirement: Must work 1-2 of 3 major summer and winter holidays unless unit is closed
- Orientation Dates: 11/9 (strongly preferred), 11/23
- Unit Details:
- Float required across all Des Moines campuses to similar units
- Home unit: Geriatric
- Bed sizes: Geri (12), Adolescent (12), Adult (24)
- Patient ratios: Up to 1:4-6 depending on unit/shift
- Patient population: Acute psychiatric patients, major mental health illness, chronic behavioral issues (violence, aggression, mania, self-harm)
- Equipment competency: Restraints
- Scrub color: Navy blue, solid
- Experience & Skills Requirements:
- Minimum 15 months of recent Psych/Behavioral Health experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- First-time travelers accepted with 12 months Psych/BH experience
- Recent/current inpatient experience highly preferred
- Experience with all age groups (adolescent, adult, geriatric) required
- De-escalation certification (MOAB, CPI) preferred (can be obtained during onboarding)
- Application/Profile Submission Requirements:
- Resume/work history with 24 months current psych/BH experience
- Psych/BH-specific Skills Checklist
- Active Iowa or compact/multistate nursing license at submission
- Professional reference from supervisor/manager within past 24 months (preferred)
- Copy of driver's license
- De-escalation certificate (MOAB, MAB, CPI) preferred; can obtain during onboarding
- Current AHA or ARC BLS certification
- Certification Requirements:
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
- CPI (or MOAB)
- Licensure:
- Iowa or Compact state RN license required
Med Ninjas Job ID #20069. Pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
