Registered Nurse - Medical / Surgical
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical unit specializing in stroke stepdown care. The ideal candidate will have experience managing patients with strokes, altered mental status, renal issues, and other general medical-surgical concerns.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: MS Stroke Stepdown Patients
- Number of Beds: 64
- Common Diagnoses: Stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, dialysis, COPD, CHF, isolation, pneumonia, and other pulmonary conditions.
- Patient Demographics: Adults
- Specialty Equipment: IV pumps, N/G tubes, feeding tubes
Shift and Scheduling
Shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM. Please be aware that block scheduling is not guaranteed. Floating between units may be required.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in New York
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing with specific experience in stroke stepdown units
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (can be obtained prior to start)
- Travel experience is required
- Skills checklist must match specialty requirements
