Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 38-bed Medical Surgical unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6; must be able to manage a 1:6 assignment
- Care for a diverse patient population including medical diagnoses (pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory illness) and surgical patients (orthopedic, general surgery, spinal, and urology)
- Titrate drips including Heparin; administer set-rate drips such as Bumex and Lasix
- Conduct bedside shift report and perform proactive patient rounding; collaborate with CNAs by assisting with call lights and supporting a team-oriented environment
- Document accurately using EPIC electronic health records
- May float to the IMCU for Medical Surgical assignments as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure appropriate for the state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification required
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience
- Proficiency with EPIC documentation
- Experience with bedside shift report and ability to manage a 1:6 patient ratio
- Must live at least 45 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with titratable drips, including Heparin
- Familiarity with respiratory therapy equipment such as trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- Comfort working in a high-turnover environment with frequent admissions and discharges
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
