Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery (L&D)
Location: Los Angeles, CA 90017

Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
Schedule: 4x12-hour shifts; self-scheduling; 4 weekend shifts per month (Friday or Saturday); every other weekend. Candidates working 3 shifts per week must take 1 on-call shift every 2 weeks. No on-call requirement when working 4 shifts per week. Block scheduling not available.
Patient Ratio: Not specified
Charting System: Epic required; unit systems include eMD Allscripts, SBAR, and Omnicell
Float Required: Yes, within Perinatal
Call Requirement: Conditional – 1 on-call shift every 2 weeks for 3-shift schedules; no call for 4-shift schedules
Note: 11-bed L&D unit with 4 triage rooms, 11 LDR rooms, 2 ORs, NICU, and Postpartum services. 24-hour OB hospitalist and OB anesthesia coverage. 36 orientation hours. Holiday coverage required; must work most holidays. Flu vaccine required; medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed. First-time travelers accepted. Local candidates accepted at travel rate.
Position Overview: The Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery provides comprehensive nursing care to patients with low- and high-risk pregnancies throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery. Responsibilities include maternal and fetal assessment, labor management, advanced fetal monitoring, recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, sterile vaginal examinations, and circulating for Cesarean sections. The RN collaborates with OB hospitalists, OB anesthesia, NICU, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe maternal and neonatal outcomes.
Requirements:
License: Active California RN license required at submission.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required. Recent experience performing sterile vaginal examinations and managing high-risk patients is mandatory. First-time travelers accepted.
Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced required.
Patient Population: Neonates, adolescents, and adults.
Patient Diagnoses: Low-risk and high-risk labor and delivery, maternal-fetal complications, abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and obstetric conditions requiring advanced fetal monitoring and Cesarean delivery.
Local candidates accepted at travel rate.
