Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse position in a high-acuity, fast-paced medical intensive care unit. The role involves caring for critically ill patients with complex respiratory, cardiovascular, and multisystem conditions, utilizing advanced procedures and monitoring equipment. The position requires flexibility in floating to different units as needed.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Shift time is 12 hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. The start date is 10/12/2026, and the assignment concludes on 01/11/2027.
- Required Qualifications: Certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS, along with at least 2 years of experience working with critically ill patients. Valid Ongoing certification is required in accordance with hospital policies.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with arterial line management, ventilator management, central line care, and high-acuity ICU procedures. Prior experience in a similar high-volume, emergency, or trauma setting is advantageous.
- Additional Information: The unit primarily manages medically complex and critically ill adult patients, including respiratory failure requiring noninvasive or mechanical ventilation, post-cardiac arrest with targeted temperature management, multisystem organ failure, COVID-19, ARDS, DKA, and ETOH withdrawal. The shift may involve procedures like bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube insertions, rapid sequence intubation, thoracentesis, and code blue responses. Floating to other units such as telemetry may be required, and flexibility is expected to ensure proper staffing. The unit is equipped with specialized devices including Zoll intravascular cooling systems, Phillips monitors, Drager ventilators, and Zoll defibrillators.
- Submission Requirements: Candidates must include responses to prior experience at a Providence facility, with specifics on location and dates. Two references covering at least one year within the last three years are required.
