Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Cardiovascular ICU – Wisconsin
Start Date: December 14, 2026
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, every other weekend, some holidays, no call required. Four 12-hour shifts per week available. Blocked weekend scheduling options available based on preference.
Highlights:
- Join a 27-bed Cardiothoracic ICU caring for cardiac surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac medical patients in a Magnet-designated, Trauma Level I facility
- Patient ratio of 1-2 patients (occasionally 3 general care patients when acuity is low); 24 hours of orientation provided
- Work with a dynamic team including 2 Charge RNs, 1 Rapid Response Nurse, 16 direct care RNs, and comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Pharmacy
- Epic charting system; experience with NxStage CVVH machine required
- Care for patients post-CABG, valve repair/replacement, LVAD, heart and lung transplants, thoracic surgery, and complex cardiac conditions
- Access to advanced technology including CRRT, IABP, Impella, LVAD, ECMO, and Zoll Thermoguard equipment
Requirements:
- Active RN license in Wisconsin or Compact state
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in CVICU required
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of NxStage CVVH machine required
- Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area strongly preferred
- Must successfully pass telemetry examination prior to start date with strict passing criteria: 100% identification of lethal rhythms, no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart blocks, and 80% overall passing score
- Proficiency in Epic charting required
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Must reside 50 miles or more from facility
